Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people reach out when they feel persistently overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stretched, or noticing ways of coping that no longer feel supportive.

Often, the people I work with are capable and used to managing a great deal on their own. At some point, however, the weight of responsibilities, stress, or emotional demands begins to feel harder to carry without support.

Therapy offers space to better understand what you are holding, strengthen your internal capacity, and respond to life in ways that feel steadier and more sustainable.

If you are unsure whether therapy is the right next step, a complimentary 15-minute consultation allows us to briefly connect and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

Can therapy help with emotional eating or weight concerns?

Emotional eating and weight concerns are often connected to stress, emotional load, and the ways we have learned to cope over time. Therapy offers space to better understand these patterns while developing more supportive and sustainable ways of caring for yourself.

As both a Registered Psychotherapist and Holistic Nutritionist, I integrate emotional and physical health in our work together. Rather than focusing on rigid plans or quick fixes, my approach supports you in building internal capacity, strengthening your relationship with food and your body, and creating change that is realistic and maintainable.

I offer both in-person therapy in Guelph and secure virtual sessions across Ontario.

Can therapy support weight concerns or emotional eating?

Therapy can be an important support when weight concerns are connected to emotional eating, stress, or longstanding coping patterns. Rather than focusing solely on behaviour, our work explores the emotional and physiological factors that influence your relationship with food.

As both a Registered Psychotherapist and Holistic Nutritionist, I integrate emotional and physical health to support meaningful, sustainable change. The focus is not on rigid plans or quick fixes, but on strengthening internal capacity, developing supportive patterns, and creating a steadier relationship with your body.

For many clients, this approach leads to changes that feel more realistic and maintainable over time.

What will sessions look like?

Sessions are a space for thoughtful conversation, reflection, and practical support. Early sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, what feels most important right now, and what you hope might begin to feel different in your life.

From there, our work evolves at a pace that respects your capacity while supporting meaningful change. Sessions are collaborative, yet guided by clinical experience and attuned to your individual needs. There is no expectation to have everything figured out before you begin, only a willingness to start where you are.

Does OHIP cover sessions?

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health benefit plans include coverage for services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist.

Because coverage varies, it is best to check directly with your insurance provider to understand your benefits.

What makes your approach different?

My work focuses on helping clients build internal capacity so that change feels realistic and sustainable, rather than pressured or short-lived. By integrating psychotherapy, holistic nutrition, and mind-body awareness, I support both emotional and physical well-being.

Many of the people I work with are capable and used to managing a great deal on their own. Therapy offers space to better understand what you are carrying while developing ways of responding that feel steadier and more supportive over time.

Do you work with men as well as women?

I work with adults of all genders who are seeking meaningful, practical support.

While many of my clients are women navigating stress, overwhelm, emotional eating, weight concerns, and midlife transitions, I also work with men facing similar challenges. Experiences such as anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, and feeling stretched beyond your capacity are not limited to one gender.

My approach is individualized and collaborative, with care tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we focus on helping you better understand yourself, strengthen your coping resources, and create sustainable change that supports both your mental and physical wellbeing.
